Tracer Recording El Pistolero In LA, November ’12

During November/December 2012, Tracer recorded their second album “El Pistolero” in LA at Revolver Studios, Thousand Oaks with Kevin Shirley producing and Jared Kvitka engineering.

At the time the band was in negotiations for a permanent replacement bass player since Leigh had left, and so on this record all bass duties were handled by session player Michael Rhodes (RIP).

The album sleeve credits “Engineered and mixed by Jared Kvitka and Kevin Shirley” however I recall Mike flying back to Kevin’s “Cave” in Malibu on his own to correct the bass sound and remix the entire record as Kevin hadn’t quite presented the true “sound” of Tracer on his initial mixes. Those mixes exist, but the one that went to press was Mike’s if I remember correctly.

Here’s my photos from the 2 weeks we were there.
