Tame Impala @ HQ, October ’10

Tame Impala have steadily attracted a large fanbase with multiple jaunts to Adelaide already under their belt. I’ve shot them a bunch of times and with each show I’ve enjoyed watching their audience grow, right from their opening set for You Am I at the Gov almost 3 years ago.

Their recently released brilliant debut full lengther “Innerspeaker“, featured heavily in the set tonight, the crowd lapping up the distorted, fuzzed out guitars and extended song versions.

It’s refreshing to see such a diverse sounding band land a favoured spot in the hearts of fans. Tame Impala have brought their tripped out sounds to the mainstream and thanks in part due to heavy Triple J rotation and constant touring are now sitting comfortable, heads down, guitars turned right up.

Typical HQ lighting (loads of back light, very little front) had me looking for different angles to work with tonight. I’m always up for a challenge!
