After a chance meeting with a random guy on a train a few weeks ago I went to check out his outfit Coast & Ocean performing at Rad Bar in Wollongong. Great stuff!! Check my vlog of how it all happened:
It took them their entire career (and then some) but Nuclear Assault finally toured Australia.
Stoked to see an Adelaide band on the support slot for Nuclear Assault. Never heard of Hidden Intent before tonight but they killed it and won a new fan.
Tiger Army played a fun and energetic set at The Metro recently. Good to see such great vibes on stage too!
Good to see the Fireballs cranking out another round of shows, even tho there was hardly anyone there to see them. These guys used to pack out venues in the day!!
Was sent PR about Austria’s Mother’s Cake recently in the lead up to this tour so went to check them out. Great set and surprisingly nice lighting too!
Media photographers were only given 1 song from side of stage and behind a designated line to shoot Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds. Here’s why I think this is a good idea:
There was plenty of rock at this show from Airbourne. I knew the beer can thing was coming so got just to the side of it and fired off a few frames before my lens was covered in VB.
These guys were on it!! Never heard of The Ugly Kings before tonight but they won a new fan. Great stuff.
Great to see Birds Of Tokyo back with a solid new album. Awesome show too!
Lots of energy on stage for Raised Fist – they looked like they had a great time up there!
Arteries really suffered from The Metro’s sound guy not patching the vocals correctly. For the first song no one but on stage could hear any vocal. Then it took close to 10 minutes to fix it. By the time they were ready to play their time was up. Looked good tho!
Where the hell was everyone? This has to be the smallest crowd you will see Band Of Skulls play to? Wollongong, you should hang your heads in shame!
Release The Hounds booked me to shoot their show opening for The Choirboys recently. Was a interesting show to shoot as I had been told to only really focus on the vocalist and lead guitarist (and maybe a little bass) as the other members of the band were leaving soon after this show. There was […]
I really wish You Am I would cut all the stage shit and just play as a rock band again. A horn section and go-go dancers and a lousy set list had me walking out on the show. Is it just me or were You Am I better as a three piece rock band?
Something For Kate totally ruled this show!! They played a great mix of older songs and new and genuinely looked as if they were loving it. Great to see.
After the promo shoot with Spiderbait I also shot their live set from A Day On The Green. There’s video of how I shot these here: https://youtu.be/eHDccgI_2F0
Was never a fan of this band, and am still not. Jebediah look like they had fun up there tho!
Se Bon Ki Ra booked me to shoot their show as they opened for Lamb Of God in Adelaide. There’s video of how I covered this show here: https://youtu.be/hcCKaZqXmrw
The Meanies opened proceedings at A Day On The Green at Bimbadgen recently. Nice to see these guys rocking still!
The Dandy Warhols like their stage dark. It really sucked to shoot.
Great lighting for Morning Harvey as they opened for The Dandy Warhols, but damn these guys were soooo sluggish. It looked like they didn’t really want to be there. Disappointing.
Highlight of the festival for me, The Jezabels really have a great show. Great to photograph!!
There’s always one act on a festival that stands out of the pack, The Sonics from Seattle were that band at Yours & Owls. They smashed through a great set of fast and furious punk numbers. Great to see!!
